Minooka Mother Faces DUI, Child Endangerment Charges

Police investigation into crash leads to charges against Rickee L. Ziegler.

A Minooka woman who crashed into two trees in a single-vehicle accident on Friday has been charged with DUI-drugs and five counts of endangering the life or health of a child, according to Minooka Police chief Justin Meyer.

Meyer said Rickee L. Ziegler, 33, of Minooka, was charged after police concluded an investigation into an accident that occurred at about 3:15 p.m. Friday at Plantain Drive and Levato Lane in Minooka.

Meyer said Ziegler was traveling east on Prairie View Drive at the time of the accident.

"As she got to Plantain and attempted to make a turn, she lost control of her vehicle," Meyer said. "She struck two trees and came to a stop at Plantain and Levato."

Ziegler and her five children—ranging in age from 1 to 12—suffered minor injuries in the mishap and were transported to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Ziegler was driving a 2003 Honda Pilot. The vehicle was totaled in the accident. She posted bond and was released from custody.
