Woman Sustains Minor Injuries in Crash That Shut Down Route 6

An early morning crash Tuesday snarled traffic and sent one woman to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

A woman was taken to the hospital for minor injuries after a car driving west on Route 6 veered into the eastbound lanes and hit a semi head-on around 7:13 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

"(The crash) was on Route 6, 400 feet east of McKinley Woods Road," Channahon Police Lt. Mark Fischer said. "Two vehicles were going in opposite directions."

The crash resulted in significant damage to both the passenger car and the semi. Injuries, however, were minor. The driver of the car, Courtney Brummerstedt, 20, of Coal City, was taken to Morris Hospital as a precaution.

"The driver of the semi had no reported injuries," Fischer said.

Route 6 had to be closed for a time for investigation and clean-up purposes. Fischer said the accident caused a large debris field.
