Morris Woman Dies in 1-Car Crash

A 53-year-old Morris woman died after injuries sustained in a one car crash late Friday night.

Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan said in a written release the driver of the vehicle was identified as Constance “Connie” Stacy, 53 of Morris. Stacy was pronounced dead at Morris Hospital just after midnight.

"Preliminary investigations indicate a vehicle was found in a retention pond along Anne Lane with a female inside," the written release said. "The female driver was removed from the vehicle by Morris Police and transported to Morris Hospital by Morris EMS, where she was pronounced dead in the Emergency Room just after midnight."

Callahan states at this time there is not an explanation as to why the vehicle left the roadway. Stacy was alone in the vehicle at the time of this incident.
