UPDATED: One Man Killed in Overnight Crash

The crash, which is still under investigation by Illinois State Police and Grundy County Sheriff's Police shut down Interstate 80.

A 66-year-old Bridgeview resident was killed Friday night in a traffic crash on Interstate 80. Grundy County Coroner John W. Callahan reported the name of the deceased as Abed M. Bader, 66 of Bridgeview.

"Bader was working for a medication delivery service catering to nursing homes in the area," Callahan said in a written release." Bader’s last drop off was Spring Valley, IL and he was then traveling back to Bridgeview when the crash occurred."

Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Martez Malone said the crash occurred at 12:05 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near Nettle Creek Road, at mile marker 107.

"The preliminary crash investigation indicates the 1999 Dodge Caravan was traveling the wrong way on I 80 eastbound, mile post 107 (Nettle Creek), struck a 2008 Toyota Yaris," Malone said in a written release. "A truck tractor semi-trailer then struck the Toyota, which was in the roadway. One driver was pronounced dead on scene and another was transported to the area hospital with serious injuries."

The crash remains under investigation by Callahan’s Office, Illinois State Police.  Assisting agencies were Grundy County Sheriff’s Department and Morris Fire/EMS.
