Person Injured in Crash that Shut Down Eastbound Interstate 80

The accident occurred at 6:40 p.m. and the eastbound lanes of the interstate were closed until 8:10 p.m.

One person was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center after two semis crashed Tuesday night on eastbound Interstate 80, Illinois State Police Sgt. Bill Fuentes said.

Initially, Illinois State Police had called for a helicoptor to transport the driver, but they later canceled it and took the person by ambulance.

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 were closed between Ridge Road and the Interstate 55 interchange. Traffic was diverted to Ridge Road, and Minooka police assisted state police in rerouting traffic.
