Six Sent to Hospital Following One-Car Accident in Minooka

Minooka police chief Justin Meyer described the injuries to a 33-year-old driver and her five passengers as non-life-threatening.

A 33-year-old woman and the five juvenile passengers in her vehicle were transported to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center following a one-car accident on Friday afternoon at Plantain Drive and Levato Lane in Minooka.

The five juveniles were aged 1, 3, 4, 8 and 12, according to Minooka police chief Justin Meyer. None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening, he said.

"(The woman) was traveling east on Prairie View Drive," Meyer said. "As she got to Plantain and attempted to make a turn, she lost control of her vehicle. She struck two trees and came to a stop at Plantain and Levato."

Meyer said the woman was believed to be driving too fast for conditions. He said the road was wet from off-and-on rain and drizzle throughout much of the day on Friday. He said the accident occurred at 3:14 p.m.

No tickets have been issued as of this point, Meyer said, but he indicated the police investigation of the accident is ongoing.
