Update: Still in the River

By Wednesday afternoon, the level of the river had gone done enough that you could clearly see that a car was resting on its roof, but not down enough to safely get it out of the water.

The car that entered the DuPage River on Sunday has not yet been removed.

According to Channahon Police Chief Joe Pena, depending on rain, it might be two or three more days until it is taken out.

In your initial report you wrote "Since the driver said she was the only person in the vehicle, police chose to leave the car in the river until the water subsided." That's my concern. How do we know she is telling the truth? When the police finally decide to take the car out of the river, what's going to happen if they find something fishy (Excuse the pun)? I'm surprised the police took this way of action. Especially with the multiple incidents that have occurred in Channahon the past two months.

Vanessa - that was the exact same thing that I thought. I'm not saying that this is what happened, however, you never know. Did they send a diver down there to check?

I'm sure that whatever they find in the car the village will put a spin on it to make themselves look good in the media they seem to do that allot lately.

I'll bet Ohare towing could remove the car!

it should be a local tower such as Anderson's fully capable of doing the job

someone should call the EPA and the Corps of Engineers and file complaint against the Channahon police department for allowing pollution to spew into the stream then watch some butts pucker.
