All westbound lanes of Interstate 80 are closed east of Minooka because of an accident involving two semi trucks, Illinois State Police District 5 said.

Icy road conditions are making travel treacherous, and have resulted not only in the truck collision that's left blockage in the roadway but in many vehicles sliding into the ditches, the police report said.

No details are available as to whether the truck accident or any others have resulted in injuries.

"If motorists decide to drive during these conditions, we ask that they please drive cautiously and have warm clothing, food and water, in their vehicle in case they become stranded," the state police said. "We are doing our best to attend to all stranded motorists as quickly as possible."
