Woman Injured in I-55 Rollover

Officials said the woman was not seriously injured in the crash.

A woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries after flipping her SUV near Black Road on northbound I-55. Troy Fire Capt. John Brownlow said the driver was transported to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet shortly after the 5:20 p.m. crash.

Brownlow said the cause of the one-car accident was unknown Sunday evening.

“She lost control somehow and [the car] ended up flipping onto its roof,” he said.

The woman was conscious on the scene, according to officials and was not seriously injured.

“She was lucky,” Brownlow said. "She's OK."

A spokesman for Illinois State Police District 5 in Joliet said no additional details on the crash, including the woman’s age, were available Sunday night.
