Channahon Police Seek Residents' Help in Catching Burglar

Burglary to motor vehicle occurred in Minooka 15 minutes before.

Police are seeking the public’s help in catching the person responsible for crimes that occurred Feb. 13 in Channahon and Minooka.

“On Feb. 13 at 8:55 a.m., a  van was involved in a smash-and-grab style burglary to motor vehicle,” Channahon Police Detective Adam Bogart said.

A purse was stolen from the vehicle, which was located in the Arrowhead Community Center parking lot. About 15 minutes before, a similar crime took place at the Minooka United Methodist Church parking lot.

Through footage provided by a camera in the parking lot in Channahon, police have determined the van was a 2010 to 2012 Chrysler Town and Country.

“We're just really looking to the community to send us information on who might have been driving that vehicle,” Bogart said.

This is the second time since the beginning of February that Channahon police have dealt with vehicle burglaries. Between Feb. 3 and 5, unlocked cars in The Highlands and Hunter’s West subdivisions were burglarized. Those crimes happened overnight and no windows were broken, so police do not believe the two incidents are related. However, Bogart is handling information on both crimes.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Bogart at 815-467-8382.
