Channahon Village Manager Jamie Bowden will not be continuing in his current role after July 31.
“My immediate plans are I am going to Atlanta to watch my daughter’s club volleyball team,” he said. “They qualified for the nationals in Atlanta.”
The end to Bowden’s tenure at the village was announced at the regular board meeting Monday night.
We didn’t come to terms in a contract negotiation for Jamie and we will soon be looking for a new village administrator,” Channahon Village President Joe Cook said.
Cook added in an interview after the meeting that a job description is already in place and that the board will consider the process of filling that position.
In the interim, if a new administrator is not found before Aug. 1, Channahon Police Chief Joe Pena will temporarily fill the role.
“I think Jamie served the village well during his tenure here and wherever he goes, he will do a good job,” Cook said during the meeting.
Bowden said he is leaving on good terms.
“We worked out an amicable [severance] package and I wish Channahon the best,” he said.
