Proposed Cell Tower Is Too Tall, Residents Say

A public hearing on a plan from AT&T to build a 150-foot tower could spring up in February, according to a media report.

An AT&T cell phone tower that would be nearly twice the heights allowed in Channahon has been met with some objections by some village residents and trustees, according to a report.

The telecom company has proposed building a 150-foot tower on five acres of Channahon-owned land in the 24600 block of West Knapp Street, Sun-Times Media reports. Four neighborhoods are near the land. Village rules set the limit for structures at 80 feet.

Plans for the tower came before village trustees earlier in December and was greeted by eight resident who offered their concerns, according to the report.

A public hearing on the proposal could be scheduled for a soon as February.
