Home Sales Prices Jump in Channahon, Minooka Year Over Year

In a comparison of real estate data from September 2012 to September 2013, the number of homes sold increased in Channahon but dropped slightly in Minooka.

The 17 single, detached homes sold in Channahon during September 2013 represented a 55 percent increase over September 2012, when 11 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe).

In Minooka, home sales dropped by just one, down from 12 sold in September 2012. 

Median home prices in Channahon also went up year over year, increasing 19.4 percent to $214,900 from $180,000 in September 2012, according to the statistics. The median sales price in Minooka jumped 18.3 percent, up to $210,000 from $177,500.

In the southwest suburbs listed, Lemont experienced the most significant increase in sales over the same period last year, with Channahon and Romeoville also seeing big jumps. Romeoville also had the greatest percentage increase in median sales price, up 40.4 percent. 

Overall, September 2013 sales in the Chicago suburbs were up 30.7 percent compared to the same time last year. The median sale price for detached homes increased 12.6 percent from the previous September, and the number of homes under contract rose by 30.4 percent
