Dist. 201 Debating How to Fuel New Propane Buses

The Minooka school district has the option of tanking up the buses at a local propane supplier or installing its own tanks on site.

The Minooka Consolidated School District 201 board is debating how to best purchase fuel for its new propane school buses.

It could purchase propane from a local supplier, such as Aux Sable Liquid Products in Morris, which propane pumps at its facility on U.S. 6 in Morris or the district could install pumps at its new transportation facility in Minooka and have propane delivered, according to a story in the Joliet Herald News.

This spring, the board voted to replace three school buses with the propane-fueled models because they can save as much as 40 percent in fuel costs and will reduce maintenance costs by as much as 50 percent, Supt. Al Gegenheimer told the paper.
