Police Investigate Threat at Minooka HS, Determine it 'Not Viable'

Minooka police investigated a threat regarding Minooka Community High School on Thursday night but determined it to be not viable, according to a message posted on the school's website.

The threat, which was not described, was posted via social media. School officials worked with police from Minooka and Channahon to investigate the threat.

"Members of the school district staff are continuing to work with the Minooka Police Department and the Channahon Police Department to bring closure to this matter, and to also provide a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff," the release stated.

As a precaution, additional members of the Channahon Police Department were present at the South Campus this morning, Oct. 31. A school messenger blast was also sent to all MCHS families.

Community relations director Dave DiLorenzo would not say the nature of the threat or on which site it originated. "We do not have any additional information to share at this time," he said in an email.

If you have additional questions, the release instructed parents to contact the main office at their child's campus.
