Should Minooka High Dump Class Ranking?

Parents and students oppose the idea of dropping class ranking while a majority of faculty want it to stay, according to a report.

Parents are concerned about the possibility that Minooka Community High School will eliminate class ranking, WJOL reports.

About 50 parents attended a forum this week at the high school’s South Campus in Channahon where administrators showed data that indicates college admission don’t look at class rank as closely as they once, according to the report. The concern from school officials is that students become overly fixated and worried about ranking, which can influence the choices they make.

A survey presented at the forum showed that students and their parents want class ranking to remain while a majority of faculty favor dumping it, according to WJOL.
