Troy Superintendent Takes Job in Hinsdale

The District 181 Board of Education officially named Dr. Don White to the position on Friday.

Two days after the Troy School Board met to accept his resignation, the Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181 Board of Education unanimously voted to make Don White, Ph.D., its new district superintendent.

White will officially take over as head of the district’s nine elementary and middle schools on May 27. He was presented with a three-year contract at a base salary of $232,500, the Hinsdale district’s website said.

Last week as he announced his resignation from Troy, White said he and his family intend to continue to live in Shorewood.

In his new job, White will replace former superintendent Dr. Renee Schuster, who was released from her contract in February citing family reasons, after a four-year tenure.

White was one of three semi-finalists interviewed for the Hinsdale job.

He called the interview process a “good journey.”

“I felt a connection to the district and was made very comfortable in conversations with the board and other district leaders,” he said in a statement posted on the Hinsdale school district website. “It was also clear that my core values were a good match to the board and the organization as a whole.”
