College Signees Aplenty at Minooka

Host of Indians honored during ceremony.

 A host of Minooka High School student-athletes signed national letters of intent to play at the collegiate level.

They were honored during a college signing ceremony last month at the school.

Four players from the Indians’ Class 7A state quarterfinal football team were recognized.

Zach Colvin, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound all-Southwest Prairie Conference defensive lineman, signed with Bowling Green University in Kentucky.

Mitch Brozovich, a three-year quarterback and all-SPC performer, will attend Minnesota State University in Mankato.

Parker Parzych, a 6-2, 210-pound linebacker, will play for the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall.

Doug Sachtleben, a 5-0, 170-pound defensive back, signed with Robert Morris University in Chicago.

The Indians’ state-level boys cross country and state track and field teams also featured a large contingent of signees.

Joe McAsey, who was all-state in both sports, will attend the University of Illinois.

A finalist for the SPC Report Student-Athlete Scholarship, McAsey took eighth in Class 3A during the cross country season and won all-state medals in the 800-meter run, the 1,600 relay and 3,200 relay, which won the Class 3A state title.

Danny Bahret, a member of the state-champion 3,200 relay, signed with the University of St. Francis in Joliet.

Twins Kevin and Bryan Dorenkamper signed with Lewis University in Romeoville. Kevin was all-state in the 300 hurdles last month in downstate Charleston.

Kaitlin Hoy and Allie Rossi, who were both members of the state-qualifying cross country and conference championship track and field teams, will team up at the University of St. Francis in Joliet.

Rebecca Sutton, who had 13 goals and a league-leading 20 assists, will play women’s soccer at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She was a member of the all-SPC team, as well.
