ON MY HONOR: Celebrating 100 years of Scouting in America
New Special Exhibit at the Joliet Area Historical Museum opens February 3, 2012 and runs through June, 2012. Since 1910, thousands of young children have participated in the time-honored tradition of scouting, either as a Boy Scout or a Girl Scout. While these groups initially had roots in England, they were formalized and expanded upon not only in the United States, but also in countries around the globe to become worldwide organizations dedicated to the development and growth of strong leaders.
This exhibit traces the history of these Scouting movements over the past one-hundred years. You don't have to be a Scout to enjoy the hundreds of artifacts, pictures, uniforms, etc. in this exciting one-of-a kind exhibit.
