Fall Tryouts Start Wednesday at Minooka

Eight IHSA sports to hold first practices across the state.

Although the summer season is in full swing according to the calendar, the fall athletic season will begin Wednesday for a horde of student-athletes at Minooka High School.

That’s the first day tryouts/practices can be held in eight Illinois High School Association fall sports.

Tryouts and practices will be conducted in boys cross country, boys golf, boys soccer, football, girls cross country, girls golf, girls swimming and girls volleyball.

Minooka requires a completed athletic participation form and physical to be on file with the athletic office BEFORE they are allowed to participate. The required full medical physical for incoming freshmen will suffice.

Tryouts/practices are held at Minooka’s central campus, 301 S. Wabena Ave., unless otherwise noted.

All levels of boys and girls cross country runners will meet at the flag pole at 7:30 a.m.

The boys and girls golf teams will hold tryouts at Heritage Bluff Public Golf Course, 24355 W. Bluff Road, Channahon. The cost will not exceed $14 per day to tryout.

Boys will begin at 8 a.m. Girls will begin at 10 a.m.

Varsity boys soccer tryouts/practices will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The freshman and junior varsity teams will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Girls volleyball practices/tryouts are from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Times for the varsity football tryouts and practices have yet to be determined.

Sophomores will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Freshmen will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
