Thunderbolts Take Series as They Blank Slammers

Slammers open a three-game series with Rockford Saturday night. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m.

(Joliet, IL) – The Windy City ThunderBolts got a complete game from Todd Privett and they scored five runs in the second inning to beat the Joliet Slammers by a final score of 5-0 Friday night.

Windy City threatened in the first but Josh Flores showed off his arm and threw out a runner at home as the ThunderBolts were denied.

For Joliet starter Jake Renshaw it was one poor inning that doomed him and the Slammers. In the top of the second Chris Wade got things going with a single. One out later Chase Porch singled as well. Nick Kuroczko singled in Wade for the first run of the game. Brandon Anderson continued the streak of singles as he drove in Porch. Then Michael Torres reached on a single to load the bases. Zach Aakhus singled in a run but Anderson was gunned down at the plate by Bobby Leeper. Ex-Slammer Devin Shepherd continued to haunt his former team with a RBI single and multiple errors on the play made it 5-0 Windy City.

After that Renshaw settled down and tossed 6 1/3rd innings to preserve the bullpen. Brian Smith and Ryan Quigley relieved him and shut down the ThunderBolts for the rest of the way.

But the night belonged to Privett, who went the distance, giving up only three hits and striking-out nine.
