Introductions are in Order

My name is Stephen McCoy. I welcome the opportunity to post my impressions on life, creativity, education, and the passing fancies we see in these unsettleted times. With humor and a fascination with everyday things, I hope to raise a smile and maybe bring a knowing nod to my readers.

My philosophy is very simple, I question all things. When I teach, I insist that my students question me if they are unsure of anything I have presented. When students ask questions, their understanding increases. Questioning creates a personal meaning that supports further learning. My writing is intended to meet the same criteria. My facts and opinions are my own, but they are not infallible. My reader either does or does not understand or agree with my point of view. If I am not making sense, please try to clarify your understanding with a question or comment.

Writing is a personal endeavor. The process can be simple and straightforward or deep and mystical. I am a simple and straightforward man. My writing style reflects my personality. I am, by nature, analytic and bemused by what I see. I write the same way.

I have many interests. In addition to teaching social studies and art, I am a photographer, wood turner, cook, and an avid gardener. I am always interested in learning new things, so please feel free to share your own expertise in these or other disciplines. I stand ready to learn as well as educate.
