3 Injured in I-55 Construction Zone Crash

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Southbound traffic on I-55 was halted for about an hour this morning after an accident in a construction zone.

The accident involved three truck tractor semi-trailers and four passenger cars, and it occurred around 6:45 a.m. in a construction zone just north of Bluff Road.

When traffic slowed in the construction zone it caused a chain reaction. Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to state police.

Illinois State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
