Local Dentist Office Supports U.S. Military by Gathering and Mailing Letters of Thanks

Letters of thanks and appreciation will be sent to troops overseas.

July is a month of many American favorites.

It’s the national month for blueberries, ice cream and hot dogs. It’s a fun summer month with swimming, boating, vacationing and no school for most.

It’s a time when our country celebrates our independence from England. It’s just an All-American month.

With Americanism and patriotism in mind, Krista Walsh, a dental hygienist at Channahon Family Dentistry, is helping to remember our country’s men and women who are serving in the military.

Walsh is encouraging patients, as well as anyone interested, to stop in the office and place a note of thanks and appreciation on the Liberty Tree displayed at the front desk.

A selection of cards are available at the dentist office.

“We have patients who are in the military or have family serving and its a way to honor them,” Walsh said. “Plus it’s patriotic because we just celebrated the Fourth of July.”

At the end of July, the cards will be collected from the Channahon office and the three other dental offices in the practice. The Channahon office will mail the letters to troops serving overseas.

This event is utilizing the “fish philosophy” that many Fortune 500 companies use in their day-to day office life. Dr. Mark Kashube said the practice does something every month or so to promote a fun and friendly work atmosphere for his employees and patients.
