100 mark: Local non-profit organization celebrates a milestone after making another wish come true.

When Shorewood HUGS first launched, it set out with a mission of “making a difference one hug at a time.”

Now, the local non-profit organization, is celebrating a milestone.

Shorewood HUGS recently fulfilled its 100th wish, said spokeswoman Molly Babyak. The organization was contacted by Minooka Community High School’s National Honor Society sponsor, Donna Engel.

“Her wish was to have Shorewood HUGS support the Memory Garden located at Minooka Central,” said Babyak.

Members of HUGS attended the MCHS National Honor Society fundraising walk and fulfilled Engel’s wish by donating $250 to their efforts. Babyak said the money will be used for upkeep of the Memory Garden and for adding a sign: “Once an Indian, Always an Indian.”
