The Museum of Science and Industry’s Christmas Trees Go Up

The museum’s 71-year-old tradition of lighting Christmas trees, now known as its Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light exibit opens Saturday. A 45-foot “grand tree” festooned with more than 30,000 lights and 1,000 ornaments is surrounded by more than 50 smaller trees that are decorated by volunteers from the area’s ethnic communities to represent their holiday traditions.

Pretend it’s summer at the Garfield Park Conservatory

Had enough of this cold weather-themed fun? Then pretend you’re in a forest at the Garfield Park Conservatory. A free class for kids Saturday teaches them why conservatories are built of glass and lets them build their own faux glass replicas. Click here for more info.
