OH! I was just set straight by a friend on NPD. He tells me that THIS is THEIR way of creating aRead More "Mount Copmore" (as in, "Mount Rushmore", for those of you from Rio Linda, CA>)

stupid NPD donut-inhaler- no gordita for you. he was probably in a hurry to arrest some N-villeRead More hausfrau for not wanting ComEd to install a SmartMeter on her house.

James Hill April 17, 2014 at 09:42 am
My name is James Hill, co-owner of SUDA International Training Center. I would like to be clear thatRead More he has never been employee in any capacity at our business. The Patch should be more careful with the information they use as it could be detrimental to someone's business. In this case it is mine. We provide services for kids and adults, and that is the last type of false information we need circulating about our company. I want a RETRACTION of that information. It is interesting how my comment keeps getting removed. I own the martial arts school on his Facebook. However, he has never been an employee or member of the facility. It is a so-called mission to report the facts, yet my comment is being removed. How can you report unsubstantiated information based on Facebook, but erase the correction comments of a business that could be affected by it?
Tashi Hill April 17, 2014 at 11:04 am
The patch took a very irresponsible approach to reporting when they reported on some one working forRead More us without any form of verification. On Facebook anyone can claim to work for any place. The person in question had that they worked for SUDA. That person has never worked for our establishment nor had ever been a member. For the patch to link that to us is detrimental to our business and extremely unfair. They never contacted us to get verification.

Will DEA stakeouts force Midwest Hydroganics to close for good? Credit: Joseph Hosey
Spyder Tech April 8, 2014 at 08:39 pm
It's so sad that tax payers resources are being spent on staking out at hydroponic shops. There areRead More way more serious things they should worry about like the heroin sweeping though Joliet. And now they are causing a man to go out of business all over some pot that's becoming legal in more and more states and proven to be more beneficial that previously thought.
Maynard R. Jerome April 9, 2014 at 09:30 am
It's a sad irony that the newspaper is carrying stories about a forum to be held in Minooka orRead More Channahon soon about the rising use of heroin & resultant addiction problems or deaths at the same time as the news breaks about these DEA agents staking out stores, pulling people's electric usage records & doing garbage dives when the most common adverse effect of the perp's illicit behavior will probably be a case of the munchies. This is simply lazy law enforcement. They're going after the low-hanging fruit, who, oh, by the way, probably won't threaten to shoot back or turn a pit bull loose on them. All this while heroin pushers & gang bangers roam the streets just a few miles east and serious drug traffickers travel the nearby Interstates. It's a sad waste of valuable resources & well-trained law enforcement personnel. Hopefully, someone in a responsible position above these guys will see what's going on here & redirect these folks activities to more serious problems in the area.

Justin Virrgginn April 5, 2014 at 10:18 am
The story here isn't the pot. It is still illegal in the state of Illinois period. Unless yourRead More practically dead then you may get the medical marijuana..The story here is the fact that we are following people home from Organic supply stores. And going through their garbage without a warrant. I would like to look at the balance sheet for what it cost to finance such an operation. We have a heroin epidemic that is off the charts in Will County. Yet were following middle aged women home from gardening supply stores? The amount of marijuana she was in possesion of is a misdemeanor. Maybe im crazy but I just dont get it.

I'd love to play the conspiracy theorist, but she was caught with weed, pipes & a plant! That'sRead More manufacture of a controlled substance. People in urban communities are arrested for having less evidence on them personally than this lady had in her residence every day!. Cry me a river...
Justin Virrgginn April 5, 2014 at 11:00 am
I didnt see any mention of a conspiracy...However I will play lawyer because possesion of weed inRead More that amount is a misdemeanor offense as well as possesion of the pipe. Also it said they found stems that smelled strongly of cannabis. So they did not find a pot plant growing. Do you know how many middle aged women use Hibiscus? My Mom has to order a special kind from Whole Foods because of the reasons this lady sited. And so what She had a little weed. She didnt have some elaborate grow operation. Also challenging the law regarding illegal search and seizure is not a conspiracy theory. Its exercising your rights to a fair and level playing field, granted to you by the constitution. Like I said the story is not the pot..

@ knee jerk. Although the upper limit IQ for officers is 105, the target IQ is between 94-98. TheRead More average IQ of a U.S. citizen is 100. Please remember to speak slowly, always try to limit the amount of syllables in each word to less than three, and try not to laugh... Cuz They get Really Paranoid. Must be the drugs.

Does anything happen in Darien anymore?! I never see any articles about anything happening inRead More Darien, the Lion's Club pancake breakfast, the armed robberies at the gas stations, the 75th St. construction, city council budget, anything Darien related! How can you call this the Darien Patch when there is nothing about Darien in. Every other town or city has a Patch site that has articles related to their town. We get lazy editors who just copy and paste from other news sites.
Kelly O' March 30, 2014 at 06:17 pm
You don't have a lot of crime in Darien. Thank your lucky stars.

Actually, today (April 4th) she WAS fired. However, I find it a great example of ridiculous unionRead More rules that it took them this long to do so.
Tom RS. April 5, 2014 at 09:13 am
She will have cost all us taxpayers a lot of money when this is all done. Millions in lawsuits andRead More probably a million plus in repairs to the system. I could be wrong, but maybe a little more training and evaluation needs to be implemented before someone is turned loose at the controls...

Mr. Hosey, How would you feel if your daughter became addicted to drugs and the article title wasRead More "Patch Reporter's Druggie Kid Arrested Again" It's obvious, this young man has an addiction problem. Who are we to judge. 'If you judge people, you have no time to love them' MotherTeresa As a Roman Catholic myself, we need to start opening our hearts to those who struggle with their relationship with Christ. We need to stop judging and start loving. This young man to is a Roman Catholic and so is his "Judge" father. We should pray for them, the family, that through Christ's love, Matthew will be able to successfully battle his afflication and addiction. We need to recognize that during this lenten season, we must see God's love in everyone, he did sacrifice his human son for our sins so we may live a just and merciful life.
John Krenkel March 28, 2014 at 10:40 am
He obviously does need help. I never said he did not. Is h getting special treatment, maybe, butRead More to me, it does not matter. What I was pointing out was the headline of this article was inappropriate. We speak of the Bully culture in our school system and looky here, Namecalling.... We have media stories outlining how horrible bullying is for our kids and our own local media outlet is bullying themselves. It needs to stop. Can the system do better for Matt Lechwar, absolutely. But so can our media. What I was saying is: Stop Judging, Start Loving, and watch how the world changes before your eyes. As Louis Armstrong sings: "The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of people going by I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do They're really saying I love you."

Arthur....the complaint about unions is that they defend employees such as her....she should haveRead More been fired the first time! She has people's lives in her hands....unions make it impossible to weed out bad employees...
Arthur Huff March 27, 2014 at 09:51 am
Deerfield, if it comes out that the union had a role in what happened in February being handled theRead More way it was then I'm right there with you. But we don't know that yet. All we know now is that the CTA handled it that way, we don't know why. For what it's worth, and I'm just pointing out facts for the sake of the discussion, in this crash and the one in New York it was a union official who told the press that the operator dozed off. Doesn't sound like they were trying to protect either of them, does it? In both of these cases they could just give us the standard "we are still trying to determine the cause blah blah blah" but in both cases they admitted right away that the driver was totally at fault. I'm not saying unions are perfect and don't obstruct weeding out bad employees, i.e teachers and tenure, but in this case we have no indication YET that it played a role.
Sue1 March 28, 2014 at 10:25 am
It would be interesting to get a copy of their contract. I would bet they have some sort ofRead More progressive discipline language in it, which would explain why she wasn't fired after the first incident.
