James Miles was arrested just one day after he allegedly burglarized the woman's house and then stole her purse when she returned home, sheriff's police say.
Fingerprints and other evidence left at the scene led Will County Sheriff's Office investigators to the man believed to have robbed and burglarized an elderly Joliet-area woman earlier this week. A black man driving a dark-colored car broke into the victim's house this morning and then stole her purse when she returned home, Will County Deputy Chief Ken Kaupas said.
An elderly woman was robbed this morning and her house burglarized by a man who threatened her with a screwdriver, Will County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Ken Kaupas said. Officers are seeking a black man driving a black or dark-colored vehicle whom the victim met in her driveway when she returned to her home in the 1800 block of Brandon Road, just outside the city limits of Joliet, at about 11:25 a.m., Kaupas said. Initially, the suspect asked the victim if she wanted to hire him to do yard work for her, he said. When she declined, he forcibly pulled the woman from her car, brandished the screwdriver and told her to give him her purse, he said. The woman did as he requested, and the suspect fled.
