Tased and Confused: Shorewood Cops Manhandle Guy in Walgreens John

The Shorewood Police were pretty handsy — and Tasey — with an unidentified man they took into custody, but failed to say why he was arrested.

It took three Shorewood cops and a Taser to take down and cuff a man at Walgreens Monday night. "The cop told him to get against the vehicle and he refused," said Joliet resident Robert Troyer, a witness who was in the parking lot during the 8 p.m. incident. The man then went into the restroom of the Walgreens at 1160 W. Jefferson St., according to witness Jacob Troyer, also of Joliet. Shorewood Officer Dan Daugherty and Sgt. Jason Barten followed, calling for backup, he said. Officer Jason Henson arrived about 8:20 p.m. and asked the store clerk where the bathroom was. Moments later, all three officers were piled on top of the man as they attempted to handcuff him. "I can't breathe, I can't breathe," the man yelled. The three officers and…

This story was poorly written as if written by a jr. high student. It appears that there is quite a bit more to the story then what is written. I don't think that cops just pull individuals out of the restroom also. I would like more facts and professionalism on the reporters part before I can make an opinion on the police and the person who was in custody.   more ›

Police: Names of Arrested Cops Remain Unreleased

Safety reasons cited for not identifying officers.

Police officials said Tuesday that releasing the names of the three police officers arrested in Peoria for their part in an alleged strip club fight would be a "huge officer safety concern." Therefore, the names remain unknown to the public. Two Bolingbrook officers and a Channahon cop—each of whom belonged to the Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad (MANS)—were arrested April 5 after they went to Big Al's strip club and allegedly got into a fight with the bouncer. MANS' executive board met Tuesday morning, where members were expected to discuss whether to release the officers' names. Officials, however, remain quiet in handing down more information. "I have no comment," said MANS Director Dan Tapper. "I'm not going to speak on this." Both …

Yeah, cuz letting bad guys know that there are Bolingbrook cops in Peoria would be revealing too much, because being undercover, the cops undoubtedly used their real names, right? Ridiculous. Not printing photos would serve the purpose. Not revealing their names because of some BS about covert operations is an insult to those that believe it, and is another typical example of government doing as …   more ›

Back in Business: Shorewood Rewind

The Shorewood Patch is back at it in the real happiest place on earth.

The Shorewood Patch took a break a couple weeks ago and headed south to Disney World. It was very nice, but whoever decided that Disney World is the happiest place on earth is sadly mistaken. That honor goes to Shorewood, and anyone who has ever had the pleasure to set foot inside this fair village knows the score. And that score is Shorewood 1 — Magic Kingdom nothing. At any rate, we're back, and returned just in time for one fantastic week. In fact, it may have been the greatest week ever. Let's take a look back at what went down, as we reminisce once more with the Shorewood Rewind: Like we said, we got back from Florida. Illinois Lottery officials announced a winning Little Lotto ticket was sold at the Brookforest Avenue Dominick's. …
