Channahon Police have the 43-year-old Yorkville resident in custody.
A 43-year-old Oswego Police Officer was in custody Wednesday night after a standoff in a plaza off Route 6 in Channahon. John. P. Wolfinbarger, 43, of the 12000 block of Mackenzie Road in Yorkville was charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing a police officer and DUI alcohol. Wolfinbarger is an 11-year veteran of Oswego Police Department. Channahon police responded to a call from patrons at Chicago Pizza & Catering Company that a man was inside arguing with someone and that he had a gun. While witnesses were speaking to police on the scene, they saw the man trying to leave in a black pick-up truck. They surrounded the vehicle, but the man inside would not speak with police. Douglas G. Pettit, who was convicted of aggravated child pornography in 2009, was arrested Monday following a five-month investigation, police said.
An investigation that started in October 2012 has led to the arrest of a Morris man on charges of dissemination of child pornography. Douglas Gene Pettit, 55, of the 700 block of E. Main Street, Morris, was taken into custody at about 12:30 p.m. Monday after Channahon police officers executed a search warrant at his residence and discovered “numerous files of known child pornography.” Pettit is being held in the Will County Adult Detention Facility. His bond was set at $1 million in a hearing Tuesday, meaning he will need to come up with $100,000 in bail money to be released. His next court hearting is March 26. Pettit is a registered child sex offender with a previous conviction for aggravated child pornography in Cook County in 2009, …

Biannca C. Ward, 23, of Joliet, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Will County, police said. Ward was taken to Will County Jail. The crash on Monday afternoon caused a hazardous materials situation that was still being addressed Tuesday.
One person was injured in a collision between a slow-moving train and a semi Monday afternoon in Channahon Township. The crash occurred at about 4 p.m. at Durkee Road, south of the river and west of Interstate 55, Channahon Police Chief Jeff Wold said. Since the accident was in unincorporated Channahon, Will County Sheriff's Police are investigating the crash. On Tuesday morning, emergency crews remained at the scene to clean up the hazardous material situation, Kathy Hoffmeyer, Will County Sheriff's Police spokeswoman said. "The tanker was loaded with a liquid, high volt two transformer oil, approximately 4,200 gallons," Hoffmeyer said. The tanker is owned by Maxwell Tank Lines. John A. Fischer Jr., 23, of Orland Park, was arrested on charges of failure to yield emergency vehicle, speeding and two counts of DUI, police reported. Joshua L. Larsen, 21, of Channahon was arrested on charges of improper lane use, failure to signal and two counts DUI, police reported. Jessica A. Vaughn, 26, of Askum, was arrested on charged of battery, illegal transportation of alcohol by driver and DUI, police reported. Scott M. McCaughn, 38, of Taylorville, was arrested on charges of driving while license suspend, aggravated battery and resisting/obstructing a police officer and DUI, police reported. McCaughn was taken to Grundy County Jail.
