Illinois State Police say the victim, a Shorewood resident, lost control of her vehicle after being cut off by another driver near Romeoville.
A 34-year-old Shorewood woman was extricated from her car Tuesday morning after another driver cut her off on Interstate 55, causing her to lose control and roll into a ditch, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Martez Malone said. The accident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on northbound I-55 between Weber Road and Route 53, near Romeoville, Malone said. Although he did not know how many times the vehicle may have rolled, the damage was extensive enough to trap the victim inside, he said. The woman, whose identity was not released, was in serious condition and transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, which is the closest Level 1 trauma center. State Police are describing the vehicle stopped as a rolling meth lab.
Two Illinois State Police Troopers inhalation injuries Friday afternoon when the car they stopped turned out to be a rolling meth lab, Illinois State Police said. The District 5 troopers stopped the car at 3 p.m. Friday on Interstate 80, westbound at mile marker 106. The area is west of Morris and east of Seneca. During the stop of the 2012 Volvo 4-door, troopers became suspicious for a number of reasons, including the behavior of the driver, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Jeff Padilla said. "A search of the vehicle discovered the chemicals consistent with the production of methamphetamine," he said. Minor injuries reported in three vehicle crash on Arsenal Road Monday.
The area of southbound Interstate 55 at Arsenal Road has been the site of traffic tie ups for a while now while a new interchange is built. But, on Monday afternoon, the left lane of southbound 55 was closed for 45 minutes while Illinois State Police District 5 worked to clear a three-car accident. Illinois State Police Sgt. Dustin Geier said the accident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. and involved two semis and a passenger truck. Two vehicles were towed from the scene and two people suffered minor injuries. The left lane opened back up to through traffic at 11:15 a.m.
