Is Tom Cross Considering State-Wide Office Run?

The House Minority Leader isn't confirming or denying reports he may return to his roots as a prosecutor.

State Rep. And House Minority Leader Tom Cross of Oswego may be considering a run for Illinois Attorney General. According to the Capitol Fax blog written by Rich Miller, Cross has been asked by State Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka and Congressman Aaron Schock of Peoria to consider entering the race if the state’s current top prosecutor Lisa Madigan decides to run for Governor in 2014. Cross appeared on WJOL radio Tuesday and would not deny the possibility of entering the race. Cross previously worked for eight years as a prosecutor in the Kendall County State’s Attorney's office. The only other Republican to consider a run for Attorney General has been State Rep. Jim Durkin of Western Springs, according to Capitol Fax. Other well-known …

Pat Quinn: Worst Governor in One of America's Worst-Run States

Take the Patch Poll: Does Pat Quinn deserve re-election or would you put another Democrat on the ballot in 2014?

Pat Quinn is so unpopular, according to a recent Public Policy Polling survey, that Lisa Madigan and Bill Daley would easily beat him in a Democratic primary while Kirk Dillard and Dan Rutherford would topple him in the general election. Quinn says he's going to run for re-election in 2014, but as 2012 comes to an end only 25 percent of Illinois voters approve of the job he's doing as governor. Public Policy Polling says 64 percent of voters disapprove of Quinn's performance — "making him the most unpopular governor PPP has polled on anywhere in the country this year." And there seems to be good reason for that. Last week, 24/7 Wall St. published a ranking of all 50 states, and Illinois emerges as the third-worst-run state in America, …

Stop kidding yourselves people. Everyone in Springfield knows that Mike "the maggot" Madigan rules the state. Hey Mike, why won't you let any reporters interview you? Why do you think he got Lisa elected? Smart politics and self preservation, so the State Attorney General's office won't come after him. Lisa must be proud to be his daughter......thanks daddy for making my career.   more ›

Glasgow And Madigan To ExxonMobil: Pay Up And Figure It Out

Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow and Illinois Attorney General are holding ExxonMobil accountable for last month's oil leak.

Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan laid down the law with ExxonMobil Thursday, ordering the oil behemoth to pay up, figure out how it screwed up, and fix whatever damage was down. The SA and the AG filed an agreed order requiring ExxonMobil Oil to investigate the cause of the burst of oil mist at the company’s refinery in Channahon Township on Oct. 19, and take specific actions to ensure it does not occur again. According to a statement released by Glasgow's office, the agreed order requires ExxonMobil to: The agreed order also requires ExxonMobil to pay up to $50,000 to Madigan’s office and the Illinois EPA for costs associated with the response and oversight, and another $20,000 to …

These leftwits in office are as responsible as the corporations. They provide oversight...or DO they? This is merely a tactic to line the politician's pockets and should, in no way, be construed as concern for the citizens in Channahon and surrounding areas. This is fascism, people. Brought to you by your friendly neighborhood liberals.   more ›

SA James Glasgow and AG Lisa Madigan Going After ExxonMobil

The Will County State's Attorney and the Illinois Attorney General want corporate giant ExxonMobil to make things right after spraying oil all around its Channahon Township plant.

Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan have teamed up to take on corporate giant ExxonMobil in the wake of its Channahon Township plant sparying oil all over the place. “ExxonMobil must accept full responsibility for the harm this oily mist caused our environment as well as the farms, houses, vehicles, streets and other personal and public property in our surrounding communities,” Glasgow said in a statement released Wednesday. “The preliminary injunction we seek in cooperation with Attorney General Madigan ensures that this incident will be thoroughly investigated and that ExxonMobil will clean up damaged properties and natural resources,” he said. Glasgow and Madigan filed a four-count …

Real Trouble For Peddling Fake Pot

Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow briefed Shorewood's leaders on the new law he drafted that outlaws synthetic marijuana.

Just hours after Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan trumpeted a new Chicago ordinance carrying a fine for selling synthetic marijuana, Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow took a poke at the logic behind the city law. "You would never think of passing an ordinance fining someone $500 for selling a child heroin," Glasgow told Shorewood's village trustees during their Tuesday night meeting. And that's why, Glasgow said, he researched and drafted a state law that will make the sale or possession of synthetic marijuana a felony in 2012. "We're going to go after (synthetic marijuana) aggressively on Jan. 1," Glasgow said. Sold as an incense product often labeled "not for human consumption," synthetic marijuana is clearly marketed for …

Missing Man’s Sister Wins FOIA Fight

The DuPage County Sheriff’s Department has kept the family of missing St. Charles man John Spira in the dark about how they’ve handled his case. Spira’s sister forced them to shine some light on it.

In the more than four years since her brother mysteriously vanished without a trace, Stephanie McNeil has struggled with the DuPage County cops to find out what — if anything — they have been doing to find out what happened to him. McNeil resorted to filing a freedom of information request for DuPage County’s police reports on her brother John Spira’s disappearance, only to be denied on the grounds that the records remain "part of an on-going investigative file." But McNeil did not quit. She appealed the denial to Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office. And she won. “They said it was an ongoing investigation — I figured there was nothing really going on,” McNeil said following the ruling by the attorney general’s office that …
