Measure in Love
Editor Dawn Aulet is moved by holiday commercial, but probably not in the way that was intended.
Dec. 1 was World AIDS Day. It was, in part, inspiration for this column. I thought about not writing this because maybe I am the only one who is so moved when I see a particular commercial on television. But, maybe I am not. I changed my personal Facebook status the other day to read the following: Dawn Aulet cannot express just how frustrated she gets when the Macy's diamond commercial comes on. The song "Seasons of Love" has NOTHING to do with diamonds or overindulgence or commercialization. Jonathan Larson is rolling in his grave. One of my friends took me to task and I responded: The message of "Rent" is that it's about Love. It does not matter if you are old or young or sick or healthy or poor or rich and it certainly doesn't matter …
