Bicycle Safety Rodeo Saturday at Minooka Police Department

Children are invited to participate in a Children's Bicycle Safety Rodeo from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday in the parking lot at the Minooka Police Department.

The Minooka Fire Protection District, Minooka Police Department, Minooka Citizens Police Academy Alumni and Channahon Fire Protection District are teaming forces to put on a Children's Bicycle Safety Rodeo. The event is from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday (May 18, 2013) in the Minooka Police Department parking lot, 121 E. McEvilly Road, Minooka. Admission is free and the event is open to children from kindergarten-fifth grade (just bring your parents). Minooka Incentive Plan Designed to Encourage New Construction

Minooka village trustess approved a plan for reduced sewer and water connection fees on new construction, according to a Sun-Times News Group report.

Call it a new construction incentive plan. At a recent meeting, Minooka's village trustees approved a plan for reduced sewer and water connection fees for new residential and commercial buildings, according to a Sun-Times News Group report. "It's all part of the incentive package we've been working on the last several months," Village Administrator Dan Duffy stated in the report. The cost for connection to sewer and water service for new home construction is now set at $5,000, according to the report, down from the previous total of $7,850. Also, homeowners can receive a rebate of $10,000 upon completion of construction—half from the village and half from participating developers, according to the Sun-Times News Group report. Duffy: Minooka Village Administrator's Contract Renewed

At a recent meeting, Minooka's village board unanimously voted to renew Dan Duffy's contract at a cost of more than $100,000 a year, according to a Sun-Times News Group Report.

Dan Duffy will remain in his current position for another four years. The Village of Minooka will add an assistant public works director. And the village board at a recent meeting set aside money to replace two squad cars, a one-ton truck and an equipment trailer, according to a Sun-Times News Group report. Duffy, the village administrator, was retained at a salary of $103,968 by the board in a unanamious vote to renew his contract, according to the report. "I am more than happy with the renewal of my contract; the board and mayor have been very generous," Duffy stated in the report. "I look forward to working with them four more years to keep growth and success moving forward."

Luz also was cited for failure to secure a child in a child restraint seat (8-under). David V. Yates, 44, Minooka, was arrested by Minooka police for domestic battery after an incident at his residence in the 300 block of Grande Drive, Minooka, on May 1, 2013. Yates was transported to the Will County jail. James Kenneth Siegler, 48, Lacona, was arrested by Minooka police for driving while his license was suspended at Ridge Road/Grainger Way, Minooka, on April 29, 2013. Siegler posted pond and was released.
