Minooka Village President: It's Brennan in a Runaway

Incumbent Patrick Brennan ran a lap around challenger Jacqueline McKinney in the race to retain his seat as Minooka's Village President.

Patrick Brennan started his day with a workout and ended it with a victory lap.

Brennan, 71, the incumbent, outpolled 43-year-old challenger Jacqueline McKinney by about a 4-to-1 margin Tuesday in voting for Minooka Village President.

Brennan finished with an 813 to 192 edge over McKinney, who four years earlier served on his election campaign committee. He celebrated with friends at Fat Boyz in Minooka while she turned her thoughts toward a career as an addiction therapist and citizen advocate.

"I got smoked," McKinney said. "I really worked and I went to every door. I don't regret it. I met so many nice people. I wish Pat (Brennan) the best of luck. I will run again."

In the meantime, she vowed to lend her support to Brennan.

"Anything I can do to help him, I'm available," McKinney said.

Brennan promised to hold her to that promise.

"She was on my committee four years ago to elect me," he said. "We know each other well. I appreciate her. I will use her in whatever way we can. I'd like to see her involved."

Brennan said his jobs platform resonated with voters.

"We're always trying to get everybody back to work—that's country-wide," he said. "Here, we're lucky to have I-55 and I-80 and we're bringing big companies to our little town. My hope is to have everybody back to work in the next four years. Then, I'll probably ride off into the sunset."

Brennan joked that he is a "young 71" and said he works out every other day at the Channahon Park District. He talked about Metal Stamp moving its business from Channahon into Minooka and hinted another firm is close to setting up shop in town, too.

"I can't tell you the name right now," he said. "But they would bring about 50 jobs. The people who work for them make around $70,000. We're talking about a wonderful company."
